EWT44 – All pairs – coverage

EWT44 – All pairs – coverage

Date(new!!!): Sunday, May 15, 2011

Time(new!!!): 08:00 AM UTC

Attendees:  Gagan Talwar, Rahul Vig, Mauri Edo, Maik, Neeraj, Jassi and Eusebiu Blindu (as host)

The session focused in pairing variables in a suitable way to get the coverage, but in the same time to simplify the tests.

The tool used, although not the only one available out there for such situations, was http://www.satisfice.com/tools/pairs.zip

As Mauri suggested during the session pairwise.org has a nice list of resources.

The mission we tried to follow was:

Use this tool http://www.satisfice.com/tools/pairs.zip for the example at http://weekendtesting.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/myfile1.html and after that give better examples of situations in which it might be useful

The term “pairs” , “pairing” usually suggests working in a team with someone else. That and using the tool was a little confusing, but we managed to get it through 🙂

We discussed cases and situations in which this approach might be used. We also discussed the fact that it can be used not only as strict method, but in relation to a context, where exploratory testing can help select the right variables or use the results during the process.
