BugRepository Integrated
on: December 24, 2009, 06:57

Hi Weekend Testers,

We are glad to announce that we are integrating Bug Repository http://www.bugrepository.com. Please everyone register there which is just two steps.

Once you register on each weekend sessions, we will add testers to the appropriate projects in which they want to participate.

Benefits of having Bug Tracker for Weekend Testing

1. Giving testers an opportunity to get bug tracker exposure

2. Tracking the bugs for different projects

3. Learning opportunities from different bug reports by different testers

4. No best practices (No templates please, but your own style of reporting)

5. Much more…

Please reply to this thread if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Weekend Testing Team

Hi,

Can this bug tracker be used by testers to file defects for products tested outside of Weekend Testing sessions?

The reason I ask this is because: Lot of testers among us might be practising by testing open source products in our free time. Using this tool would be of great value in this scenario.

@Parimala,

The answer could be “Yes” even if they are practicing testing. They could just request us to create a Project for them and then give access to them as a reporter and they can continue reporting the bugs in a bug tracker.

What are the steps they need to take in order to get the project assigned?

Not some complicated steps but below you can find few simple steps,

1. Register at http://www.bugrepository.com

2. Send an e-mail to me at Santhosh.Tuppad@weekendtesting.com with the below details,

- Product name

- Number of testers with their usernames registered at Bug Repository

- Type of Product ( Freeware, Commercial, Open Source )

If you have any other queries let me know.

Thanks,

@tarnnum.axelerant,

Yes it is :) . We are using Mantis for bug tracking :) . Is there anything that makes you think it shouldn’t be used for WeekendTesting bug tracking? *Smiles*.

Thanks,

WT Team,

would it be possible to configure the bugrepository so that new issues are automatically assigned to the reporter?

This way all the bugs found during the sessions can be kept up to date by the reporter if she decides to follow up with the product owner.

@Markus,

That’s a nice idea. Thanks for your suggestion. I will just see if there are any limitations on Mantis however it is open source.

We will consider this suggestion and try to work on this :) .

Thanks,

Hi Guys / Girls,

Have you tried the defect life cycle.. different stages… I would like to do a session on defect life cycle as a mock to see how the testers would react to comments on the bugs…

Lemme know your thoughts.
