WTA-61: Tell Me, Don’t Show Me
Date: Saturday, May 9, 2015
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. PDT
Facilitator: Michael Larsen
Mission: This session will be an introduction to Accessibility through the use of Screen Reader applications. For Mac users, VoiceOver comes build in to the Mac and can be used immediately (go to System Preferences: Accessibility: VoiceOver and check the box that says “Enable VoiceOver”. From there, you can toggle VoiceOver On or Off by pressing Command-F5.
For Windows users, there are a number of options, and we will focus on NVDA for this session (it’s a free download from http://www.nvaccess.org/.
Note: for those who want to participate in this session, you will need to already have downloaded and installed NVDA (or a JAWS demo, or any other screen reader of your choice). We will discuss some opportunities for looking for issues related to accessibility, and talk about building a case for adding accessibility as part of your overall testing strategy.
